Situated on the (Northern) West coast Ayvalik faces an archipelago, with some of the islands connected by bridges. In effect it faces a secluded bay, which offers fine views from the higher reaches of the city, which is partly built along the flank of a hill. The fine setting has attracted more holidayers than I like but well, one can still make pleasant walks, and see some flamingoes along the way. A good place to visit Bergama from, also. AYVALIK
